The MCA of Southern Indiana started 2010 off strong with more than 25 people attended each of the first 2 chapter meetings. Scott Hinton, Industrial Contractors, Inc. is the new chapter President and Mike Borman, J.E. Shekell, Inc. is the new Vice President. The chapter is currently involved in negotiating a new working agreement with Local #136. The current agreement expires at midnight, March 31, 2010. In May, the chapter will host a retiree and associate member meeting and dinner. Retired contractors and current associate members will be invited to attend the meeting and dinner. The meeting and dinner will be hosted by Gribbins Insulation. The 2009 Christmas Party at the Bauers Grove Bauerhaus was attended by more than 100 people. Work in the area is very slow at this time. The Wabash Valley MCA will begin negotiating a new agreement with Local #157 this spring. The current agreement expires at midnight on, June 30 2010. Several representatives of the chapter will be attending the 2010 MCAA National Convention in San Francisco, CA. Work in the area is slow at the time, although the large Edwardsport Plant will require a significant number of pipefitters late into the spring and summer. The CIMCA Chapter and Local #661 JAC members will not be hiring new apprentices this year. The chapter recently held their Post Holiday celebration at Petersons restaurant. Several representatives of the chapter will be attending the 2010 MCAA National Convention in San Francisco, CA. Work in the area is very slow at this time. The Fort Wayne MCA continues to hold regular Labor Management meetings with Local # 166 to discuss the construction industry in the Fort Wayne area. The chapter and Local #166 JATC members have not yet determined if they will hire new apprentices this spring. Ted Current was recently re-elected as the chapter President. Jim Gill was re-elected as chapter Vice President. Several representatives of the chapter will be attending the 2010 MCAA National Convention in San Francisco, CA. Work in the area is slow. Work at Parkview Hospital will be ramping up this spring and summer. The Indianapolis Area MCA met in January with Local #440 Business Manager Dave Posey and other Local #440 representatives and discussed the construction industry in the Indianapolis Area. Gene Burt, Central Supply Company, attended the February meeting and presented information about his company. The chapter will invite two Associate Members to attend monthly meetings to present information about their companies. A Labor Management meeting will be held on March 1, 2010. Work in the area has been very slow at the beginning of 2010. |
