Chapter News

Chapter News. The MCA of Southern Indiana chapter and Local #136 continue having labor management meetings to address the mechanical construction industry in the area.  The chapter is also active with monthly chapter meetings with high attendance.  The chapter recently held a meeting honoring chapter retirees and associate members.   Work in the area remains very busy.  The JATC is in the process of expanding the training center.  There are more than 280 apprentices in the program and the JATC anticipates hiring a sizeable new class of apprentices this year.  The JATC will be hosting a UA 18 Week Welder Program this summer.  The Wabash Valley MCA remains active in their monthly meetings.  The chapter continues making donations to several charities.  The chapter currently awards three scholarships annually through the Wabash Valley Community Foundation (WVCF) and the WVCF will attend the next chapter meeting to discuss the scholarship fund.  Work in the area is a little slower than normal.  The JATC is looking at hosting a UA 18 Week Welder Program.   The Fort Wayne MCA and Local #166 have been conducting Labor Management meetings to discuss the mechanical construction industry in the area.  The Chapter is looking at attending a Fort Wayne TinCaps game this summer and will host their golf outing in September. The JATC will hire 27 new apprentices.  The MCA Indianapolis Area  chapter congratulates Greg Fuller on being elected MCAA President.  The chapter will continue the scholarship program and will award $10,000.00 in scholarships to college students.  The chapter agreed to assist member companies attending MCAA educational programs by paying 1/2 the registration fees for select programs.   The chapter remains a proud sponsor of the Indianapolis Colts and  Indiana Pacers.  Work in the area is going well. The JATC will be hiring approximately 40 new apprentices.  The St. Joe Valley area recently held their membership meeting with Dave Posey, UA International Representative, as their guest speaker.  The chapter has been conducting Labor Management meetings with Local #172.  The chapter will be holding an event on August 11 at a South Bend Cubs baseball game.  Many members will be attending the MCAI Foreman/Project Manager Partnership Program on May 9 at Local #172 in South Bend. Work in the area is very good at this time.
